Quantity
  • Filter particles 7 times smaller than sand for the same cost.
  • Eliminates chloramines.

It is a family of minerals containing hydrated aluminum silicates formed in cavities in lava flows and in plutonic rocks. It is used as a filter medium instead of silica sand due to its ability to capture particles of up to 3 microns vs. 20 microns with sand.

Characteristics

  • Reduces chemical costs due to its filtering capacity of up to 3 microns.
  • You get superior quality water.
  • Reduces the need for backwashing.
  • Zeolite has a surface area of 40 m2/gr, this large surface area is caused by small pores and surface irregularities.
  • The zeolite is used in an approximate proportion of: 25 kg = 50 kg of silica sand. 1/2 kg = 1 kg of sand.
  • The only chemicals you will need to use to maintain your pool will be: chlorine, pH adjusters, and probably an algaecide in some seasons.

Instructions for use:

1. Drain water from the filter.
2. Remove the sand load.
3. Pour water into the filter halfway.
4. Cover the side tubes (manifolds) with gravel/sand an additional approximately 2 to 5 cm (so that the zeolite does not return to the pool.
5. Add zeolite, up to the level you would fill with sand.
6. Let it rest for half an hour.
7. Backwash filter for 3 minutes or until backwash water is clear.
8. Start your filter cycle as you normally do.

Regeneration of the zeolite to maintain the properties of removing chloramines.
1. Drain the water from the filter.
2. Prepare a 10% solution with common salt (without iodine) or 15% sodium hypochlorite.
3. Fill the filter with the solution and leave it for 12 hours. Backwash the filter and resume normal operation.

Recommendation of periodicity to regenerate the zeolite:
– Residential: Minimum 2 times per year.
– Semi-public: Approximately every 12 weeks.
– Public: Every 6 weeks (in high use seasons).

Note: check the pressure indicated on the manometer with the pump operating normally in the filtration cycle and with the filter clean, when this pressure rises more than 5 PSI it is a sign that the water is having a harder time passing through the zeolite and is beginning to to become saturated with dirt. A range between 5 to 10 PSI above the normal pressure, depending on the size and conditions of our installation, is an indication that it is necessary to regenerate it.
